Training and talks
Training
At the Welfare Benefits Unit, we are committed to providing an extensive training programme, throughout York and North Yorkshire, to raise awareness about the range of benefits available.
Designed for beginners, our most popular training course is the 3 day ‘Introduction to Welfare Benefits and Tax Credits’. This is repeated at regular intervals throughout the year.

We also provide in-house training for organisations, including Citizens Advice Bureaux, housing associations, carers' organisations and local councils. The courses are tailored to the specific needs of the commissioning organisation. They can be delivered either at our premises in the Priory Street Centre, York or at a venue of choice.

Talks
The Welfare Benefits Unit gives talks to a wide range of groups, including hospital staff and support groups. The talks can be on any topic related to welfare benefits. This may be to: increase general awareness; address a particular type of benefit; consider recent changes in the rules.
